The etiology of major, acquired female urogenital and rectovaginal lesions in Port Harcourt, Nigeria

Introduction: New and emerging trends in the causation of urogenital rectovaginal lesions, changing patterns behavior female patients with diseases were observed. The aim this study is to determine risk factors etiology these diseases. Methods: This was a cross-sectional observational records consecutive operated on at University Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH), Nigeria, major lesions from 01/01/2018 31/12/2022. Each patient’s records, sociodemographic data, clinical assessment, laboratory investigations, diagnosis, intraoperative findings studied recorded. Data obtained analyzed simple statistics, presented charts prose, tables. Results: Twelve cases found studied. Their age statistics (in years) as follows: mean age, 38.6±11.5; median, 34; range 25 68. Ten them within childbearing (15-45 years). One patient had uterocutaneous fistula subcutaneous endometriosis. Another anorectal carcinoma rectovesical rectouterine fistulas. uterovesical fistulas menouria (Youssef’s syndrome), fourth perineal tear. Four uterovaginal prolapse, 4 vesicovaginal Obstetric gynecological trauma sexual battery accounted for nine 12 cases. high-risk pregnancies but antenatal care labor managed by either traditional birth attendants or primary healthcare staff peripheral institutions. Conclusion: Most etiological modifiable. Appropriate measures have been suggested management prevention lesions.
